MM OCT 17: Bukit Saga Hike

By Rosemary Kong

Hey peeps, Raleigh Kuala Lumpur aka RIKL has organized a hike at Bukit Saga, Ampang on 14 October 2017 and we’re happy to share the moment with you guys! With the arrivals of all the lively youth and our alumni at the meeting point, we are ready to set foot and hike.

Bukit Saga is a community forest much like the Kota Damansara Community Forest and is taken care by the hundreds of regular hikers, where together they are known as the Persatuan Pendaki Bukit Ampang. As an upkeep of the hill, they collect their own donations to build the facilities around and maintaining the trails for the hikers. However, the recent SUKE (Sungai Besi – Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway) Project is giving a huge blow as this project will be slashing through Bukit Saga whilst destroying the greens itself.

Participants rounding up for short brief by our organizer, Marble.

Hiking up with determination.

Nonetheless, once short brief ended, all of us started to hike our way up the hill. Honestly, I can say that the trail is quite intermediate as few routes is a bit slippery. But hey, take your time because you are in the green zone. Upon reaching the top, we were amazed by the facilities around. There were tent shelters, camp tables, mini gyms, swings, benches and even hammock to chillax. Can you imagine yourself sleeping in the hammocks while gazing to the blue sky after a long hike? The feeling is great, it’s awesome. And yep, all the facilities were built by the volunteers.

Taking a short break and gather around for snacks.

After a short stop, we continue to hike to the Apeh Waterfalls. There are two waterfalls and we had a long stop at the smaller waterfall for a soaking session. And yes, imagine the feeling when the waterfall massages your back with fresh cold water. It was yet another blissful moment. Following that, we continued to hike our way out and finished the program. Plus, kudos to Bryce as he beat the Saga Hills although having difficulties during the early hike.

Our sweet alumni.

A group photo is a must!
